Margaret Falls Upper Trail

If you’re looking for secret waterfalls, photo-worthy viewpoints, and prefer the path less traveled, Margaret Falls Upper trail is for you.

While many know of Margaret Falls Trail, few know that it also features an upper canyon loop trail. This trail provides deeper traveling routes, hidden viewpoints, and a tougher climb for those seeking a more adventurous hiking experience.

Margaret Falls Upper Trail follows Reinecker Creek, above the Falls. The first half of the trail is made up of switch-backs and can be a workout, but views of the Salmon Arm from the lookout section at the top are worth the exercise. The trail is easier to climb during the summer, but it is also climbable during the winter, and features magical snowy views – just make sure to you wear hiking boots with strong grips.

Margaret Falls Upper Trail Fork (Secret Waterfall)

Additionally, this trail also includes a small, optional pathway to a secret waterfall. If you turn South at a fork near the top of the hike (on the North side of the hiking loop), you can access a small waterfall and pristine pond. Dogs love to lap up the water, and the bravest hikers will even take an icy dip! While this pathway is more difficult, it is a quieter experience for nature-lovers. Take a moment to meditate and enjoy the view.

The upper trail takes around one hour to complete, and it is around four kilometers long. While the trail includes cell service for safety and is dog-friendly, Margaret Falls Upper Trail is not recommended for children. We recommend hiking shoes.
